CPO/CCO, Former CEO, and Co-Founder Claudius Weinberger Will Leave ArangoDB

SAN FRANCISCO – May 8, 2023 – Today, ArangoDB, the company behind the most complete graph data and analytics platform, announced that Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder Claudius Weinberger has decided to leave the company. As ArangoDB’s former CEO, Weinberger has played a major role in developing and steering the company. He will continue to be part of the Board of Directors and support the senior management team.

Weinberger started ArangoDB with Co-Founder Frank Celler in 2015 and has developed it into one of the leading graph databases and the most complete graph analytics platform. He raised $50 million to achieve this goal, moved the company to Silicon Valley, and built a global executive team across the US and Germany. Today, ArangoDB has over 100 employees from 21 countries and three continents. Leading global organizations, including Altana Technologies, Cars24, Cisco, E.ON, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Juniper Networks, and Telstra, rely on ArangoDB.

During the last months, Weinberger worked closely with Shekhar Iyer, the current CEO of ArangoDB, to ensure a smooth transition. In those transition months, Weinberger also initiated and developed the next step forward for ArangoDB: ArangoGraphML, the Graph Machine Learning Platform built on ArangoGraph. Currently it is in a closed beta phase and will become public soon.

“Since I joined, I have been impressed with the foundation that has been built and tremendous innovation in the graph analytics and machine learning capabilities that have been created,” Shekhar Iyer, CEO of ArangoDB, said. “This is a massive achievement by Weinberger and the whole ArangoDB team. ArangoDB is the only graph database that can truly scale to serve as the foundation of modern data and analytics.”

“The last eight years were awesome, and I am extremely thankful to everybody who helped to build and grow ArangoDB to be a next-generation graph data and analytics platform,” said Weinberger. “I will miss the whole team and our customers. But I am pleased that Shekhar, who brings a wealth of experience and understanding of the domain space will continue to drive the next growth phase. The company is in very good hands, and I am looking forward to what is coming next.”
